I'm not a big fan of this subclass diversion. I already saw this with Midgards Angelic Scribe, its confusing when one subclass tries to satisfy multiple classes at once.
Also, if your going to adapt an MTG world, can you try some of the previous planes that need more attention?

I was invited to play some dnd on Saturday, ended up rolling up a drow monk and took the chance to try the Way of the Ascendant Dragon. Was so much fun, might be my new favourite subclass.
Story wise, the best moment was when I punched the kindling to start a fire
