This is another botanical plate from our collections. This was drawn by Berthe Hoola van Nooten for "Fleurs, Fruits et Feuillages Choisis de l'Ile de Java" in 1863-64. Her plates followed precedents set by Maria Sibylla Merian and Elizabeth Blackwell.

FF: Cerise's love for roses, according to her is based of her love for botany. Though she uses her roses for her rose bomb pranks, she greatly finds them fascinating.

According to the fossil record the Kem Kem flora included a wide variety of angiosperms. Although tree ferns and smaller ferns were also present. At the water's surface there were Marsilea and an unnamed member of the Nelumbonaceae.

On July’s theme, 2 paintings from the collection . Augustine Henry travelled to China, where he worked in the Imperial Customs Service. A renowned botanist-the mountain goral was named in his honour, Kemas henryanus.
