I still struggle sometimes but I've found it helpful to "connect" the cheek with the muzzle to cheat around having to think much about it, you can then separate them when you shade or w thinner lineart
Also having the snout go a bit downwards leaves more space for the cheek-

two separated lines and adding some upper or lower lip shadow is the fool proof way

if it's still looking sus it's probably due to the placement

just remember it's stuck to skull and needs to have curvature as the eyes do as they rest on the head
