I always think in big and simple shape. You can always add detail later by giving it a soft shade, blur some part of the hard shade, adding another color, etc

Learning about shape and light source is fundamental for shading!

recommend, the Big Bloated Bobbling bubble bullfrog, Low maintenance and you can hold it, its the size of a Cantaloupe fruit.
