I was talking to friends a few weeks ago, and we felt some more water-based mammals would be appropriate for animal crossing.
Thus seal villagers.
My friends also helped name them, and I tried to make their aesthetics match their personalities.
My friends helped name them.
Moschops was a therapsid that lived before the dinosaurs did. They also are closer to mammals like us than to the dinosaurs that would appear later!
northern giant mouse lemur: this species of lemurs were identified in 2005. the n. giant mouse lemur lives in communal nests in the forests of madagascar. they have the largest testicle to body ratio of all mammals, which contributes to their constant and unique mating behaviors.

Smilodon
Smilodon is an extinct genus of big cats. It is one of the most famous prehistoric mammals, and the best known saber-toothed cat. Although commonly known as the saber-toothed tiger, it was not closely related to the tiger.
... which is basically the idea that big #dinosaurs did not have continent-wide ranges (which is what we'd predict based on big #mammals), but were instead more provincial. This idea has been promoted by several workers but also heavily contested - it's a fascinating debate.

The Thren of #ChangedStars don't fear snakes as humans tend to. Instead the "Kazitral" is trained to collect fruits from tall branches & protect traditional homes from small carnivorous xenomammals. Myths of various Mrahd cultures historically treated them as protective spirits.
@puffygators I really love drawing bees and birds! I've been writing children's books that center around wild bee conservation, so they've become my main focus right now :D But tbh drawing animals is always fun, weither it be insects, birds, mammals or reptiles, ect. :D
@FishGuyKai Genus, Gorgonops, was a synapsid (early relative of mammals with reptilian characteristics) named after the gorgons. Name means “Gorgon face”
