1) Create a new layer on top of a color layer and select “clipping”
2)Choose where the light will be coming from
3)chose a different color than the original and then darken it (look at pic 1 and 2)(look up color theory for this) and a
4)Shade following the shape (pic3)

Late but color under the lineart, use brown line art, use gradient tool for cell shading hair, try messing with water color as a shade, when light hits make clipping layer for lineart and make the areas where light hits lighter.
Sorry its how I do it but do play around!

Thanks! Mainly worked with a clipping mask and flat brush, used a mountain texture brush midway through to add detail, then polished over everything with extra layers!
