This pretty much describes it.
The thing about writing a story is that you can include problematic elements and uncomfortable themes in there, but as the writer it's up to you to justify them being in your story in the first place. They did a good job justifying it.

I think these are actually the first ever designs I did for Isaac, but they were done in a style I wasn't comfortable in + a brush I wasn't used to, so I scraped it pretty quickly.
