So I finished my Keykid’s redesign! I had half a mind to leave it plain and simple but then I thought “nahh let’s play with textures like I said I would”. I gotta say I like how it turned out! It looks much closer to how I picture her in my mind.

In the above drawing, I used a few different lace brushes and a jewel texture brush for the earrings.
In these two, I used pattern brushes and earring assets. Also, never underestimate the outline layer property to make drawing bows and small details easier ✨

I always look at other low models for inspiration in making my own, and sometimes I'll find workarounds I'd never think off. Like how Parin from Gurumin's eyes are planes with transparent textures in front of her face.

My work goes through a number of iterations and so do my sketches…
Concept Sketch > Final Sketch > Final Render
The 3D render itself went through roughly 10 iterations between lighting and texture changes - The final result was soooo worth all the render time!
All of the models were rendered in Cycles.
Did update Ollie's eye model, some texture and re-render as well. For Reine, did the re-compositing.
