This is the most open interpretation, but the color pattern is still intact even though the feet are talons and he has a big ol mane. Here, the white scale spots on the feet reflect the light tan patterns on his feet in the basic design.
@worddancer21 I mean my favorite lanterns right now are Simon and Jess in the GL Rebirth series. Or Jo Mullein from Far Sector. Those are my personal recommendations.
