Kuma's design is originally from a Japanese Video game from the late 90s. Once it was ported for Western Audiences, marketing changed the attitude and design dramatically to appeal to children of the time. This then evolved to what we have today.

Sad news today, Jason David Frank ( Green/White Ranger, from MMPR) passed away. He was also a Punisher fan. He was definitely an icon for those who grew up in the 90s. He was the coolest ranger with an amazing redemption arc. Not to mention his martial art skills. RIP.
