Yeah, I remember that infamous Asterix book. The plot involved a war between two alien factions landing in Gaul village. One was led by a Mickey Mouse looking character with Superman like clones and the other were insect like beings call the Nagma (get it?).

Once again paying tribute to the comics that single handedly got me into drawing as a child and as I do today

A bit of a digital quick doodle redraw I did at work of Son Goku () drawn in the style of Albert Uderzo (). I think I might make this into a simple piece like I've always wanted to.

reading the first ever Asterix comic makes you realize how pheonminally lame the animated adaption of it is

its no wonder Goscinny and Uderzo (whom were never consulted on the film (greenlit by their publisher) and only found out via a press screening) scrapped initial followups

A John Byrne technique I loved as a kid was when he'd use the bottom of the panel as the floor of the shot. The only other cartoonist I'd seen do that was Albert Uderzo in Asterix.

I don’t really know, but when I was a kid I know that I had a tiny crush on Asterix and Boule (Boule&Bill), but yes they were never meant to be beautiful, which makes them more real despite the art style that isn’t realistic

Behold! Not one but two Useleus books for you to buy! Greek mythology like you’ve never seen it before. Think Asterix meets Ancient Greek and you’ll be along the right lines. Available to buy in all good book shops or online: https://t.co/YgOvwXaYdP

I was lucky to find this bumper beauty in a charity shop a while back, having also not read any since I was a kid, and blimey yes, it's one of the greatest comic strips for kids AND adults. Asterixland looks great fun, I wanna go now!

Stay tuned tomorrow as I join to play some ASTERIX! Watch us beat up some Romans at 2PM EDT!

The European ones I read are much more comical, in art and story.
I grew up with them, everybody here who reads comics grew up with them.
Andre Franquin did the 1st two others are Asterix and Lucky Luke
I believe they're also published in English!
If you want more light stuff
