. captured that Mario Bava/Dario Argento essence (thanks again, ), blended it with some California sun, and made everything shine with some great colors.

(extra points if you can spot the Return of the Living Dead Punks)

Film time!
I watched Atom Age Vampire, an Italian horror from 1960. I’ll admit, I was lured in by the title - sadly, there’s very little vampirism here, atomic or otherwise. Amusingly, the producer is credited as Mario Fava, *definitely* not to be confused with Mario Bava...

PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES (1965).

Mario Bava's micro-budgeted movie probably cost $50 to make, but it was money well spent. Not only is the film creepy as hell, it clearly inspired many later, bigger films (despite the denials of their respective creators).

Mario Bava's 1964 "Blood and Black Lace" is one of the most extraordinary films I've seen in a long time. It's beautifully shot, well composed & brilliantly acted. A suspenseful tour de force. I cannot recommend it enough. Go watch it now.
