Albrecht Dürer made 2 engravings at the turn of the 16th C. The Four Witches 1497 & Witch Riding Backwards on a Goat.He didn’t mention it in any of his known writings.The most common theory is that the witches personify lust or discord,which,if indulged in,leads one to inferno.
