The @oatweet excavations in Hull shown on #DiggingforBritain last night showed some really delightful finds. This odd couple - a ‘pipe tamper’ and ‘trinket’ caught my eye. But hopefully doesn’t gain me a twitter ban! #D4Bdrawing #Archaeology @RareTelevision @theAliceRoberts

Ġgantija, a neolithic temple complex in Malta.
Said by locals to be built by a giantess once.
Residents and travelers knew about the existence of the temple;before any excavations were carried out, someone drew a plan based on that knowledge, which has been found to be accurate

And another St Wystan's, Repton (Derbys.) example owing to its interesting findspot. Here's a cross-shaft frag found upside-down in excavations to E of crypt in 1979, in a feature that turned out to be an 11th or early 12th c pit. #SculptureInExcavation

“...huh?”
Yea you heard me. Bet you didn’t know @TheRealStanLee did a retelling of Wonder Woman drawn by @JimLee! Maria Mendoza was an activist protesting an illegal excavation site when she was given the power of an Incan Sun God. #HispanicHeritageMonth
@AlisonFisk @Rachel5742 Wonderful. What a great way of bringing the past into the present. I loved visiting Vindolanda many years ago and bought a cook book of recipes they'd deduced from their excavations. Their version of baked egg custard is something I make frequently.
