Feeling so happy with how this sketch is turning out!
It scratches a peculiar itch when I start making passes with softer, darker pencils. That's when the graphite starts to get shiny and slippery, which some artists don't like, but I think it adds a cool sheen to the surface.

Sharingone of my best preliminary graphite studies for a Magic: The Gathering card. The graphite allows for wonderfully expressive structures in form and shadows, very difficult to control, but the subtle textures achieved are a thrill to see emerge!
