I read a paper that punching with blunt force can do significantly more damage to an average predator skull with their fragile Jaws, extended eyes, thin cheek bones, etc.

the smaller one is Dunkleosteus, not sure how much the size comparisson holds up. Either way, while still having those armored jaws, they are much smaller and lack the cutting edge of Dunkleosteus, instead functioning to keep swarms of smaller fish in afaik.
