The real surprise of the Pibby/Corrupted toons thing to me is that OFFICIAL COMPANIES are allowing their beloved children's mascots to become soulless monsters. The closest past example I can even think of is Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers and that was far more rooted in parody.

My favorite Malibu comic was Sergio Aragones and Mark Evanier’s “The Mighty Magnor”miniseries. Still my all time favors superhero parody. Also a great satire of the early 90s comics boom.
