Today begins Rusalka week. In tradition this week was a week where no weaving could occur because the Rusalka were considered masters at it and would not be disrespected. Instead, people would go to the forests and leave offerings to the Rusalka #slavicmythofact #darkgreenweek

According to East Slavic beliefs, today rusalkas come out of water and become active in liminal spaces.

It’s said, the malicious maidens especially like pea fields – in Slavic folklore they are associated with the supernatural and witchcraft.
