#DisneyAnim The final segment "Firebird Suite" is about an elk who wakes up the concept of "life" who does some gardening until Mout St. Helens erupts and a giant bird monster kills everything. This really feels like the standout of the film in terms of spectacle and artistry.
JJK episode 22 is a episode that is normally overlooked when talking about the best in the series but the mixture of some great AD work with no CAD along with the best art direction in the main series it makes for a standout episode in the series.
Then TYBW was just nonstop banger, the hype didn't stop. The dialogue writing was so good. The character monologues, exposition & then the battle choreography, everything was so good.
Everything But Rain was a standout arc imo. I even made a thread on its brilliance!

Ren gets a toothache in 1992: Clay sells rocks in 2003, Camp Dinkey gets an open-ended advertisement in 2007, and Tails tries to hook up with Zoe in 2015. A pretty mixed day, but I’d say Sonic Boom’s the standout.

An incredibly charming fantasy film that's both lighthearted and dark, yet never feels distracting whenever it takes a tonal shift. A wonderful ensemble with Tilda Swinton being the major standout, along with a great climax
2022: Shinigami Note - Calliope Mori
Not much to pick from just yet, but so far this one takes the cake. Pretty much every good thing you’d expect from Calli for her major label debut.

As I go farther and farther back, I keep thinking some of these years don't have any standouts. Then I see whatever the "big" indie of that year was and go, "Ah, yes, that's the one!"
For 2015, it's Undertale.
2017: Kizumonogatari III
Really strong finisher for what was a great prequel trilogy. Standout segments throughout the whole movie.

Witch Hat Atelier
A good read with it's standout aspect being the marvelous paneling. Still, it had a heartening core with effective underlying darker elements, a lovely magic system and likable central characters alongside a satisfyingly diverse supporting cast.

I just realized I never shared with you guys my final thoughts on Dance Dance Danseur, so here we go! DDD was such an enjoyable watch and painfully relatable given that I am a dancer. This series was a true standout of the 2022 spring anime season and I am thankful we got it!
