It experiments ALOT with the Suikoden formula. From the story to combat alike.
And I absolutely commend this game for daring to do stuff different. Even if not all of it pays off.

The author came up with the name "Roswaal" just off how it sounded, without it being inspired from anywhere.

Whereas, with the surname "Mathers", with it having a mage-like feel to him, he was likely inspired by Mazus from the RPG Suikoden.
