#SciArtSeptember day 2 #Monstrous
“Jeremy Wade’s catch is taken by a real #rivermonster ”
Rhizodus hibberti
The scariest fresh water fish ever known to science. This monstrous lob-finned fish was 7m long and had some ridiculous 9 inches fangs half-buried in their 1m long jaws.
Day 2 of #SciArtSeptember and the theme is “monstrous”. Quick doodle of a Dunkleosteus, a classic “monster fish” from the late Devonian.
Happy #SciArtSeptember! Todays theme was survivor and these guys were recently downgraded from endangered to threatened! Long way to go but still good news for the #morroshoulderbandsnail 🐌
These #snails are named for the dark band that runs along the “shoulder” of their shell
#SciArtSeptember Day 31: Thank you ♥
I really enjoyed this little challenge and like to thank @FlyingTrilobite and @liz_lagomorph for hosting - and everyone who participated!
And, of course, thank you to all the people who like and share my work. This means a lot to me!

Thanks @liz_lagomorph and @FlyingTrilobite for the ride!!!
Process goes hand-in-hand with patience, practice, repetition. I often think that this painstaking repetitive methodology must be a bit similar to the way many scientists carry out their work.

I drew this male and female bufflehead pair in grad school about 7 years ago.

#SciArtSeptember Day 29: Process
Common #kingfisher (Alcedo atthis)
Until 2020, I had no special relationship to kingfishers. But after ringing my first #bird, watching them intensely, handling them: This is one of the most incredible birds I know!
- 2014
#SciArtSeptember Day 28: Tiny
#Hummingbird action!
Stripe-tailed Hummingbirds (Eupherusa eximia) and Violet Sabrewings (Campylopterus hemileucurus). It must be quite difficult to ring such tiny #birds, because of the size - and the super fast metabolism!
- 2014
Ooh boy, this mistletoe is the most combined sketch ever. For #SciArtSeptember days 23, 24, and 27: Arboreal, Circular, and Adaptable
Hoping I can catch up in time to do a full painting for day 30 - to close it off nicely, and because I got an idea that I really want to do
#SciArtSeptember It's Day 28 in my neck of the woods.
"Tiny" is the prompt.
This brightened my day last spring:
My very cosmopolitan tardigrade enjoying a cosmo provided by fellow #sciart artist Zina Deretsky (not on twitter) https://t.co/rbgjyxNROd
I’m not sure what day of #SciArtSeptember the #familial prompt is but here is ‘Bloodlines’ a photo-digital print. Also a play on words :-)
This self-portraits begins an upcoming series of portraits of ancestors & others.

Day 25 for #SciArtSeptember (playing catch-up) is #theoretical.
This 60x40” painting ‘Heartspace 3’ answers where we keep the people & places & things that we hold in our hearts by playing with heart structures a little.
