"It bore me away, wetted with spray,
wrapped in a mist, wound in a sleep,
to a forgotten strand in a strange land.
In the twilight beyond the deep"

Inspired by Tolkien's 'The Hobbit', the Folded series is about a young warrior woman in a Northern Town, whose path crosses with a fantastic race, their King, and a series of deadly calamities they must resolve. https://t.co/yRZtgDkWfW!

Although there are few in Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings', Éowyn plays a pivotal role by slaying the Witch-King of Angmar; contributing to the demise of Sauron.

A proper Shield Maiden!

My favorite design of Sauron from Lord of the rings is Tolkien's goofy little watercolor doodle.

Another drawing inspired by Iceland, the amazing waterfalls, waves hammering the beaches of Vík í Mýrdal, and my love of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth.

One thing I love about Tolkien's writing is he'll write pages about nature and geography in such a beautiful, touching way whereas many authors will take the setting for granted, and with battles he can write in one paragraph or sentence what other authors take pages to.

Thematically as a hobby I do live readings of Tolkien's work while illustrates them. We have a blast doing it and small audience that keeps us company.

Glaurung, anthropomorphized. Look, I'm a Glaurung fan and a dragon fan, so this was bound to happen. Color scheme loosely based on Tolkien's painting of him.

In a post apocalyptic future that appears as a blend of World War II Europe and J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, a pint-size wizard named Avatar must save the world from a band of fascist mutants controlled by his evil twin brother, Blackwolf. (1977) 🧙‍♂️🧚‍♀️

Great seminar with my history of illustration students this morning - a journey through 20th c. fantasy and SF imagery rounded off by a comprehensive analysis of Conversation with Smaug (1937) featuring Mikhail Belomlinsky's snappy 1976 Russian version as a comparison

Just for fun, I recolored my Beleg's outfit based on Tolkien's illustration of him!
