Today we celebrated a plaque on Blackstock Rd, N4 marking the room where the CND sign (now universal peace symbol) was adopted. Designer Gerald Holtom based it on semaphore for N and D but also alluded to, inverted, the central figure in Goya's anti-war painting, 3rd May 1808.
