Orsi was hit by lightning when he was a kid, so he's got lichtenberg fractures all over the left side of his body, concentrated on his left hand. He covers himself from the neck down coz he's super self-conscious about it. Other scars are from surgeries.

I think the comics The Fractures & Old Friends could be reworked into great TV adventures. The monster in the former is a brilliant concept, sort of the Reapers for the multiverse and I'd love to see the Corsair in live action (Katie McGrath would be great for this incarnation).
