Oh yeah I actually also do other things than half done sketches... Have some material/ light testing... Its not quite what I wanted but I think I can move on now.

i'm not here to defend the animation in question, you may like it or dislike it; but just because one character and one character only has a similar headshape to others doesn't mean everything about the show's artstyle must be dismissed, which is exactly what this image does

I think I started with the shapes I could easily identify. So I started with the halo headshape and tried to build down. The reference I was given looked like this (it's a super cool painting but with that pose and all those highlights, it was a bit confusing as a ref, hah)
