These birds used to be incredibly common across urban areas of the UK, however, they've suffered a massive population crash recently with 71% decrease between 1977 & 2008 (RSPB)

So let's pop up this reconstruction of an extinct along with its species-specific larval mouthparts. I mostly get asked to do slightly less exacting so I love the challenges work like this poses.

Common R temporia. We raised froglets from tadpoles from the river wye and just returned them. Odd to see them in rivers? Love frogs & hope this population avoid the vile being studied by & the#gardenwildlifehealthproject

This is a European otter, Lutra lutra, eating a Brown trout.

Although lots of people have seen otters at The Warren in I'm yet to spot one. Brown trout we see often,leaping out of the river.

Finally heard my first cuckoo of the year yesterday - one of my favourite sounds.

This Arabian horse was done for a greetings card company some years back.

It's the only time I've illustrated a horse, im actually really scared of them. For some it's spiders... For me it's horses.

Here is a pair of Dabchicks or Little grebe, Tachybaptus ruficollis.

They bob underwater when disturbed and pop up at some distance, so can be hard to see.

These beautiful birds are quite rare and I'm yet to see one in the wild.

Bagot goat. This rare breed is found on Blithfield estate in Staffordshire has been there since 1389, and may have been brought over from the crusades.
