Day 4 of #SciArtSeptember - "Schooling". Clown loaches tend to live in groups of atleast 6!
Off theme #SundayFishSketch but #SciArtSeptember. 1. Survivor, 2 Monstrous, 3. Captive, 4. Schooling. Had to play quick catch up today. Will try and fit all 30 images onto this page.
Day 3 of #SciArtSeptember is Captive, so I sketched one of my (captive) leaf insect gals! She ended up becoming a red colour morph even though her mum was not ❤️💚
#SciArtSeptember day 3 prompt ‘captive’ Sea otters roll themselves up in kelp fronds to safely nap without floating out to sea. #seaotter
Day 3 of #SciArtSeptember - "Captive". Faced with near to total extinction in the wild, Panama Golden Frogs live on under human care.
#SciArtSeptember day 2 #Monstrous
“Jeremy Wade’s catch is taken by a real #rivermonster ”
Rhizodus hibberti
The scariest fresh water fish ever known to science. This monstrous lob-finned fish was 7m long and had some ridiculous 9 inches fangs half-buried in their 1m long jaws.
Day 2 of #SciArtSeptember and the theme is “monstrous”. Quick doodle of a Dunkleosteus, a classic “monster fish” from the late Devonian.
The #SciArtSeptember prompt is “monstrous” so I’m sharing my Opabinia. I might not have thought of a 7 cm, long-extinct creature as monstrous, but a friend saw my sketch & asked nervously about it, so I imagine being smaller and meeting the 5-eyed critter with a clawed proboscis!
Happy #SciArtSeptember! Todays theme was survivor and these guys were recently downgraded from endangered to threatened! Long way to go but still good news for the #morroshoulderbandsnail 🐌
These #snails are named for the dark band that runs along the “shoulder” of their shell
It’s #SciArtSeptember and the first prompt is survivor - so here’s the virtually indestructible tardigrade! Linocut print of everyone's favorite extraordinary, micro-animal who can survive extremes: the tardigrade, also known as the water bear, also known as the moss piglet.
Enjoy this porcelain crab linocut for #ArtAdventCalendar & #Crustmas & #invertefest which I made for #SciArtSeptember this year. The porcelain crab, is 1 of at least 5 groups of decapod crustaceans which have evolved to be more crab-shaped in a process known as carsinisation.
