Advice I'd give to a beginner: Don't be afraid to make mistakes... you have to get out alot of bad drawings to get to the good ones!

Even just starting the background & water, it's already leagues better than the original. Biggest painting advice my professor was "let your shadows breathe". I can't believe just how -black- the original was. Like, 0 out of 255 on the value scale.
