that could mean minimizing a color palette or removing some aspects of a character altogether, mostly to maintain the contrast between the fore and back
too much detail for characters in the bg can either distract from or clutter the foreground

I think what I like so much abt my art now versus my old art is that I rly did get so bogged down by trying to do as much detail as possible that in the end it just looked bad and I stopped enjoying the process all together. Learning to let it go and simplify was game changing

A lot of it consists of sketches I do for discord server interactions/replies, rough comic panel ideas, and for a while maybe 99% of it was drawing Scraptrap over and over trying to simplify him and begging the art gods for mercy

Sometimes I try to make things easier to understand but just end up confusing myself! I wanted to simplify this 2 interwoven Greek Crosses motif (the red shows the strands going underneath) but instead of sticking with just 1 Cross, I did part of both, yeah like really clear! 🙄
