No, I don't know why the art style for Hartley changed so much over the years. (Two of these are from the same artist!) Since the late 80s/90s, Hartley's had long hair, though. These days, he looks like this:

10. The first Inugami that I drew with the blue hair, then the other 9 Inugami actually came from him. And as I touched on earlier, picking 10 different random Yokai in 1 emaki, I wanted to bring the concept into my Inugami art as well.

7 Then it reminded me of the concept of bone drawing in Japanese painting where they remove unnecessary lines to express clearly. I really respect those who draw beautiful line drawings in comic illustrations as they do air, water, and even emotions with black lines! Unbelievable

Born with a birthmark on his neck, Aicon's father called him cursed. To be fair, he does have a string of bad luck. After being abandoned by his family, he took to tending his mother's old garden. He's very optimistic and bright despite all the misfortune in his life.
