This is her original character, Quinn. I really like her outfit and purple hair, so gradients were a must.
(By the way, this was made completely using vectors! It's a lot of work, but the resulting style is worth it!)
@DeePeeArts For me I think it's
1. Hair/Texture
2. Eyes/Facial Expressions
3. Gradient Shading/Lighting
🍰🧁☕️ Vanille’s redesign is very simple but I really like her gradient hair and aesthetic which is very pink and sweet. She works in a bakery while studying to be a pastry chef and have her own bakery, although she is always busy she loves to take tim… https://t.co/mPEBK6kfBN
Light also works best when you don't overdo it. think what way the light is moving and use a single or as few as possible brush strokes to create the light. Use an eraser or mask to define it more. Light is also a gradient more often than not.
Before applying the gradient, you should also consider whether light or dark will be the focal point. In many cases, if you want something bright to the the focal point, give the background a dark gradient, if the focal point is something dark, make it light.

It's pretty fun to mess with gradients and space type characters
This was one I planned doing last year but ended up not getting to it.
Was a friendly fire I guess so no points for this one.
