It's an unreasonable attack! The author draws a rising sun in the background. Because it means blessing. Korea have rising sun as the emblem of several schools. Since 2012, Korea has made it a tool to put pressure on Japan. Until recently, Korea did not take it as a problem.

'The Concert' (1663-1666).
Man, I love a good intentional tangent. No blurring in the foreground. You can make out the strings on the cello.

So, I'm not finding much evidence of Vermeer playing with depth of field blurring ahead of camera technology.
