It's just a thought, but there was a concept art from BotW, showing Link's father and sister.
Seeing "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity" coming soon, maybe it's possible to imagine, that Link's sister was Linkle, who fought alongside her brother and died in battle 100 years ago?
