i usually use 3 base colors and roughly block them out before going in with a smudge tool to make it fluffy and add some highlights when i feel it looks sufficient

(I put quotation marks around painting bc Goku still has a separate line art layer and Broly’s shading is just blurred and smudge cell shading)
