No. 138: Omanyte
Spiral Pokémon
It was restored from an ancient fossil. Those Helix Fossils are excavated from areas that were once oceans long, long ago.
@postman_shadow Thank you for the chance!
This is Kanna! She is an isonade, a shark from japanese mythology. She’s usually stoic & serious. She likes to create bladed weapons. Both normal, for normal people, & specialized ones for immortals. She likes fossils & fish, especially Asian arowana!

I had this idea for a #fakemon a few days ago. I was reading about certain jellyfish fossils from beached jellyfish that absorbed all the sand. So we got these creepy Ground/Ghost Pokemon. I don't have names.

Kanna likes to collect fossils of all sorts! Do your characters like to collect anything? If so, what is it? 🐚

Scelidosaurus. Oil on canvas. One of Ireland’s dinosaurs. Fossils of Scelidosaurus have been found here in Jurassic rock #extinctirishanimals #extinct #wildlifepainting #wildlifeart
Giant ground sloths were pretty amazing creatures! Charles Darwin was the first European to find fossils of this beast, Mylodon. (Art @TabithaPaterson) https://t.co/0PQ2E3sldI
Fossils wouldn't have half their popularity if Fossil Fusion didn't look this sick
Nicolaus Steno was born #onthisday in 1636.
The greatest anatomist of his era, he dissected this shark head and proved the link between shark teeth and fossils. He also formulated the fundamental laws of geology...all by the age of 30, just to make you feel like a loser.

For #FossilFriday I'll share one of my favourite fossils:
Rhamphorhynchus flies over water.
Snap! Catches a fish.
Then (there's always a bigger fish) SNAP! get's caught by a Aspidorhynchus leaping out the water! But it's too chewy, entangles with the teeth! Oh no, all die!
For #FossilFriday a species I am working with right now! Ampelomeryx is a kind of "#punk #giraffe" with several ossicones that lived in Europe 18Mya. It possesses #sabertooth ... YES a punk giraffe with sabertooth !!!

Based on fossils found by Mary Anning, this is Prehistoric Dorset, as imagined in watercolour by geologist Henry De la Beche, the first major scientifically-based pictorial representation of prehistoric life (1830). At R, later revised lithograph by George Scharf
I'm super excited to visit @PerotMuseum in a couple of weeks for a #scicomm conference centered around paleoanthropology! In addition to what promises to be a great discussion, I can't wait to see the fascinating origins exhibit (complete with #fossils on loan from South Africa).
I watched @Lockstin's video on the Galar Fossil Pokemon a while back and I just realized that the fossils I drew are exactly like what he said in his videos!
Then I realized today I haven't posted them so...
Dunklevish, Arctocidae, Dracorash & Velopazolt
“You might be wondering, how did it end like this?”
“Well, let me tell you how!”
Joke drawing I wanted to do, love the new fossils, despite them being the wrong halves, lol.
