In this case, I wanted the robot to feel more robotic/mechanical, less human to contrast the human outfit.

@Dutchangledrago @bluederg Here is a wip pic with the different sizes, so this would be a medium-ish sprite with some extra room for the tail and tip of the wing (usually dont mind adding extra if it is for a tail, weapon or something so it fits better)

@RetroDubsVA this question plagued me for such a long time, the most useful tip I found is to see what aspects of other artist’s style that you find appealing and incorporating that into your artwork. Eventually with enough time I happened to fall into a groove that I was comfortable with! -

4. Then go add details and define where you want the hard shadows to be. If more lights come to play in the lighting, adjust the light/shadow ratio.
Tip: I like to use the selection tool and gradients to do my shading.
