Basically we made a first layer with rough heights which looked like a 6yo colouring. Each colour is on a different layer so we switched them to a greyscale value. High was 0% black, and very deep was 100% black.

So I have 2 little sister's, one 8 and one 10. They have supported my drawings long before I even went digital. One night I sat them down and made them a character each and I plan to use those characters for practice art! The art is suppose to add up, raising the value.
Day 978: Lake shore! Tonight's result was late, but fun again. I really do actually enjoy doing these. Breaking down and simplifying these shapes really make me think, and it definitely can really show the power of value. I'm excited to keep doing more of these so I can improve!
A color test for my next project.
Might need to simplify further. The goal is to let the linework breathe as much as possible but still deliver on atmosphere and value. I don't like my work feeling cheap.

@DiceDeeds Art is also very important. I can't emphasise it enough but great art can change the way a game is perceived.
I'm working a lot with SIXMOREVODKA on their game degenesis and the first selling factor is the art and production value.
Because the art really defines the universe.
