So basically Scarlet/Violet is going with a past and present theme, it looks like.
You can see with the Professors Barbaric/Futuristic outfits. Not to mention Korai (Past) and Mirai (Future) in the Legendaries names 🔥

Ok, so by the looks of things, the theme of scarlet and violet is tradition vs technology, since one legendary looks more primitive, and the other looks cyber.
