A limited ~8 color palette keeps things simple and efficient, gradients and blending take time and can look muddy. Longest stream I've ever done. According to my time tracking software I've painted more in one day exactly once in the last 7 years.

thanks to 's advice i was able to keep the romantic pink gradient for the image while still being able to keep his skin tone as it should be. there's a lil more shading on him for the campfire light but its still a wip

In case anyone is interested, here are roughly all the steps I went through this time! Before, I used to just paint on a blank canvas basically without any base. This time, I sculpted first, diffuse baked, put gradients on that and then went into my usual texturing phase :)
