i think you need to start with the shape of your character BEFORE doing any fur shapes or patterning. i have a few character designs with neck floof, but i specifically keep in mind the shape of the over all character to get more varied shapes

try looking up various animals or plants irl to see what kind of patterns they have, or even go into artstyles like mosaic patterns and such

otherwise, i just sometimes draw abstract shapes to compensate that idk how to draw tabbies. i cant rly explain it

a huge aspect of Horus's character design I absolutely adore are his wings! I love how HUGE they rightfully are in order to support his body weight, the details on their patterns, the dynamic angles and poses mojito draws them in. They give Horus a grand, regal feeling ✨
