It’s book that is beautiful & disarming in its simplicity. It’s one of those books that’s hard to shake once you’ve read it.

It’s all done in color pencils, w/ big, lush illustrations that belie the story’s troubling theme. It made me think about comics in a new way.

I think something I need to try and do more as an artist, is try less to nail details when using reference. And focus more on simplifying said details to match my style.

From the neck up looks good. But everything else suffers due to me trying to match the reference.
