A game that uses this really well is Roki, they have a really good post somewhere about being able to swap out gradient maps to change mood real easy. I had trouble choosing a mood myself! These were made by just adding overlays to the existing gradients. Neat!

I often work b/w to colour, Important thing to remember is after you have done some initial colouring with overlay/colour/mulitply layers you gotta paint opaquely over the top! Avoid those muddy colours (wrong temp or value). any questions lemme know below
