Another note is that your shadows need more definition.
See your ref image? Well notice how she's cel shaded. It means that her shadows are sharp well defined sections of shadow. If you want to capture that style then you should aim for defining for shadow groups first. (Example)

hi kittah! im no expert, but this is how i understand water: it's mostly light and shadow. bc of that, i feel like it stands out in dark backgrounds more.
1. start with a base: i use light blue at 30% opacity to make the shape
2. hollow it out with a soft eraser
3. add highlights

Day 85 I tried colouring for the first time, it is challenging but fun. Overall I am satisfied with the result. I didn't try to hard to study the position of the shading. I just put shading on where I think it belongs/fits in. Definitely will study light and shadow.
