The game featured gorgeous cutscenes by the same team that did the cutscenes for Xenogears. And the 3D character models didn't have faces, but the in-game pixel portraits are just *🤌MMMMWWWWA!*

"The Xenogears Comic Anthology," and "Xenogears 4Koma Comic" are 2 graphic novels released in 1998. They both contain many short stories that take place during and after the events of the game. I love that there's tons of character interaction; something the game lacks a bit.

I've realized that I still like Xenogears and that I miss games like it: ambitious, stubbornly indulgent pet projects somehow given generous budgets. These days so many RPGs are either super-safe triple-A fare or underfunded dating simulators with some battles and item crafting.
