honestly the merit of thumbnails means that the full scale is hard to show, but also means it gives a good example of how a lot of mistakes get forgiven in zooming out... here's an example of full size (bg) vs. working size (foreground)

My most recent illustration from Horizon: Zero Dawn! I definitely struggled with this one a lot. I kept reworking the colors, the foreground, until I finally had something that clicked. Very frustrating, but ultimately very satisfying!

I've been thinking a lot about Jacen Burrows' work on PROVIDENCE recently. It's some of the best storytelling I've ever seen - the subtlety of the framing to create unease, the *constant* interplay between foreground and background elements, and the fluidity of movement.
