First rough sketch - flat color + multiply

I find the most fun doing such "abstract" thumbnails and/or sketches to get the flow going. However, there's a huge drawback - it's really hard to get line art or clean the sketch afterwards in a way that won't make a picture look stiff

(Image from @.Big_BrotherFNF) just a quick reference. Feathers are typically larger at the tip of the wing, and smaller when close to the body. Also, feathers lay flat and are smoother near where the bones (structure) are, and tend to fluff and fan out the further away from it.
