The way I've worked it out for past games and is like this:
You can still have the straps as a separate overlay if you want to put them over a shirt, but the backpack only needs to look like it is behind the character.

Poppy has a new icon!!!! I think this turned out really cute and I love it so much. The only thing I would change is that I wanted a glass overlay effect so it would look like she was trapped in a screen but my artist ability isnt there yet lol..... maybe next time 😭😅🤗

Ending on a simple but fun one. What this exercise really taught me was the different ways light and dark colors show up in overlays and ways I could use that to my advantage.

Its great and necessary to understand color as in traditional painting, but one of the greatest things that comes with digital art is layer blending modes. You can add so much life to an environment with just one overlay layer 🌟

Final test. Upper left quadrant has line work added, glow test went well on first try, and a touch of holographic overlay test. Definitely always needs the line work.
