HBD to Gustave Caillebotte! His images of sailboats on the Seine near Argenteuil were among his most personal, combining his passion for painting & yachting. ‘Voiliers sur la Seine à Argenteuil' (1886) sold by Dickinson depicts his own yacht ‘Cul-blanc’.

If your day is looking stressful, enjoy this soothing watercolour drawing by Miles Edmund Cotman, entitled ‘Boats (in a calm sea with Hay Barge in the centre)’. We love the glassy, almost mirror-like stillness of the water.

My OC Rézi (the one with the big smile) originally came from Germany in 1726. She and a lot of other people sailed on the Danube in hope to settle down in Hungary!

That's how my ancestors migrated to the country as well, with these boats called "Ulmer Schachtel" 👀
