It takes special effort to not understand Lilo's character.
@SquigglyDigg @Kalei_Works Lilo and stitch isnt set in the 70s. The outdated technology in their home is because they are struggling to make ends meet. You can see cobra using a cell phone, and they have a mulan poster on their wall.
They're both learning how to deal with the awful situation they were both thrown into. Lilo being bullied at school and taking it out at home/having her sister be her parent. And Nani having to deal with Lilo and everything else thrown onto her shoulders. Its frustrating.
Nani gets fired from her job due to Stitches antics and instead of casting blame on Lilo when asked "Did you lose your job because of Stitch and me?" She says instead "Nah. The manager's a vampire. He wanted me to join his legion of the undead."
Nani is now the sole income provider for their food, housing and this also includes Lilos hula classes, something she is incredibly passionate about, something Lilo strives to pursue even more once she learns her mom was a hula dancer at her age as well.
I have not written a "dissertation" on a Disney movie since my Tangled one about emotional familial abuse and with recent things, I thought why not do another.

@MarkS58399485 Mod was designed as a stitch oc, and while I like their design too much to make their features, personality, and abilities less stitch-like they aren't related to lilo and stitch at all, so I guess I could say they're sort of inspired but sort of not.
