Did this leggy boy over the course of today. He's still hollow, gappy of course but I'm happy with it. Will be adding joints and surface detail, most likely in a fashion.

And the level of realism. With androids or humanoid robots, you can add more/less detail depending on how much of their inner mechanisms are exposed. Hirofumi Ichikawa's "Transformers" art has the reputation for being toy accurate and having realistic mechanisms/joints.

Here, I dunno if this helps, but it's kinda like this: like the chest and ribs are a big egg connected to a neck and the two shoulders come from ball joints near the top of the egg. It's a little Mr. Potato Head-ish, but it's how I visualize it, personally.
